Cathay Pacific flight-earned cost, Aug 2026. 114 one-way fares across 38 city pairs (22 ex-Hong Kong in HKD, 16 ex-Australia converted at AUD/HKD 5.51 as at 2026-08-05), collected from the cathaypacific.com per-route fare finder, all-in including taxes and carrier-imposed surcharges. Earn modelled from Cathay's published table effective 20 Aug 2025: zone (measured Hong Kong to destination) x fare-class group x fare type, summed per sector for via-Hong Kong itineraries. Fare families matched to the cheapest bookable brand per cabin: ECO Light, PE Essential, Business Light. Points-weighted cost per cabin: Economy 1.5053, Premium Economy 1.8982, Business 2.1965 HKD per Asia Mile. Blended 85/15 Economy/Business = 1.6089 HKD per Asia Mile. KEY STRUCTURAL FINDING: on Cathay-marketed flights Asia Miles equal Status Points x 100 in every one of the 84 cells of the published table, so the two currencies accrue in strict proportion and cost per Status Point is identically 100x cost per Asia Mile (160.89 HKD). The previously stored pair (1.4456 and 124) was mutually inconsistent at a ratio of 86. Sensitivity: the one modelling assumption is the economy booking-class band within the Light brand; Y/B/H/K Light gives 1.1329 and S/N/Q/O Light gives 2.4274 HKD per Asia Mile. Japan routes and a few others were dropped because the fare finder returned no data for them.

How We Calculate the Value of Cathay Pacific Membership Points
Asia Miles redemption value, Aug 2026. 126 one-way award rows (114 Cathay-operated across 38 city pairs, 12 partner-chart rows on the 4 pairs a key oneworld partner actually operates: BA HKG-LHR, QF SYD-HKG and MEL-HKG, MH HKG-KUL). No Seats.aero source exists for Cathay, so award prices come from the Asia Miles charts effective 1 May 2026 rather than live availability; Cathay withdrew these charts from publication, so they are reconstructed from secondary sources. IMPORTANT: the award chart is banded on TOTAL ITINERARY distance including layovers, unlike the earn table which is a per-sector lookup keyed to distance from Hong Kong -- the two use the same band boundaries but different inputs, so a via-Hong Kong itinerary bands differently for redemption than for earning. Taxes modelled from Cathay's published per-sector fuel surcharge schedule effective 1 Aug 2026 (HKD 1,362 long-haul, 633 South Asian subcontinent, 339 other, 198 Chinese mainland) plus departure tax at origin (HKD 165 Hong Kong, AUD 70 Australia at 5.51). Cash comparators are the same one-way all-in fares collected for the fare bucket, matched on route and cabin. Points-weighted value per cabin: economy 0.1156, premium economy 0.2088, business 0.2603 HKD per Asia Mile. Blended 70/5/25 business/premium-economy/economy = 0.2215, against 0.23 previously on file. Cost/value ratio 7.3x. KEY FINDING: value collapses on long Australia-to-Europe itineraries in economy -- SYD-BKK 0.0241 and PER-LHR 0.0279 are the worst in the set, because total-distance banding pushes them into the 7,501+ or 2,751-5,000 band while the cash fare stays low. The best redemptions are all short-haul ex-Hong Kong premium cabins: HKG-MNL business 0.5031, HKG-CGK premium economy 0.4988. Partner awards cost 12% more value-adjusted than Cathay-operated on identical routes. Japan routes are absent because the fare finder returned no cash data.
