How these numbers are built

Every week we search Google Flights for Qantas-operated business class round trips from 12 Australian cities to every destination we can find, then look up the actual flights behind each fare. Fares are the round-trip total for one adult in Australian dollars, as found at search time. They aren't live prices, so check the searched-on date and expect them to move.

Status Credits use Qantas's base earn rates, with no tier bonus, assuming the sweep's earn category (shown with the searched-on date). Business fares on aircraft without a business cabin earn at the economy rate. The Double Status Credits switch doubles every figure, the way a double Status Credits promotion would.

About a quarter of fares have a flight we couldn't price, usually because the flight lookup found no match. Those trips are still listed and counted, but left out of every ranking, median and plan. Silver needs 300 Status Credits, Gold 700 and Platinum 1,400. Distances are great-circle. For what status costs through everyday spend instead, see compare programs.
